Black Forest Bakery
NOW OPEN! Black Forest Bakery, open in Athens since the early 1970's, has relocated to Ansonborough and is under new ownership. Known around town for their delicious sweet treats and tasty sandwiches, Black Forest will continue to operate as a bakery and deli, selling scones, muffins, cookies, cakes, pastries, donuts and coffee. The bakery will now remain open in the evening, as well, serving coffee and desserts, including gelato and ice cream.
Edible Arrangements
Edible Arrangements combines fruits such as fresh strawberries, grapes, oranges, cantaloupe, honeydew, bananas, pears and the company's signature sculpted pineapple daisies into a variety of bouquets. Some or all the fruits can be dipped in chocolate. They are perfect for any occasion from happy birthday, thank you, congratulations and sympathy to business events, client gifts and employee appreciation. Each arrangement is made to order and can be customized with a jar of all natural fudge and a special occasion mylar balloon.
Johnny's Pizza
Johnny's Pizza specializes in New York-style pizza in two sizes - 12-inch or 17-inch. A regular large pizza costs around $11, and a gourmet topping large pie is priced at around $19. All the pizzas are hand-tossed and baked in a stone oven. Options for dinner entrees, which come with salads and garlic bread, include lasagna, chicken parmigiana, eggplant parmigiana and spaghetti. For salads, patrons can choose a dinner salad, a Greek salad or a chef salad with turkey or tuna. Johnny's Pizza also offers a variety of hot, oven-roasted sub sandwiches, stromboli and calzones. Lunch specials, including pizza by the slice, also run daily.
Mirko Pasta
Mirko makes fresh pasta and sauces and serves lunch and dinner. Customers can select from more than a dozen pastas and sauces made daily. Uncooked pasta is sold by the pound for customers to take home and cook themselves. The restaurant also offers salads, Italian cheeses, appetizers and carpaccios. A bowl of fresh pasta and sauce could cost between $7 and $9.
